INTRODUCTION
The Historical Crisis Committee (HCC) places delegates directly into a specific moment in history, where they assume the roles of influential figures and actively shape the course of events. Rather than simply discussing outcomes, delegates are expected to make real time decisions that will alter history itself.
It’s a cold January night in 878 at Chippenham. Wessex and Mercia nobles are having a feast in celebration of their victory until the sudden blast of horns prepare the Anglo-Saxons for a fate that is much worse to come. Chaos is seen in a swift attack by Guthrum’s forces. Amid the confusion King Alfred and a number of his bannermen flee to the marshes of Sommerset. In this committee the Witan (Alfreds Council) will be working towards eliminating the Viking threat following the massacre at Chippenham, delegates must save England from the Great Heathen Army and solidify control over the Vikings.
